In 1995 we moved from Namibia to a town called George on the Garden Route in South Africa. We found this wonderful landmark property, first registered in 1861. Desmond would have the space for his dream garden and I undertook to start a guest house, so that the house could at least pay for its own upkeep after the initial restoration.

That is the start of my life as a guest house owner and this is the story of a house and garden,lovingly restored and shared with our guests, with family and friends…

Before starting my guest house blog I had planned to start a blog where a few guest house owners could share stories and recipes, but it turned out that I was the only one who ever posted. I then changed my website into a blog-based site, where the blog posts form an integral part of my website content.
